Giant Nubbles: A Short Climb to a Great View

Elevation: 2760 ft
Ascent: 1150 or 1480 ft
Round-Trip Distance: 3 or 4 miles
Location: Off Route 73 near Chapel Pond.
The Zander Scott trail to Giant from the trailhead near Chapel Pond goes right by the trail to the Nubble. It is a steep trail in places, but the ascent to the Nubble is only 1150 ft while the ascent to the summit of Giant is over 3000 ft. The trail junction is about 0.3 miles beyond the Giants Washbowl (pictured).
An alternative route with an ascent of 1480 ft starts at the Roaring Brook trailhead in St. Huberts and ascends past the top of Roaring Brook falls and then on up on a slightly less steep trail to a junction with the last portion of the trail out to the Nubble proper. Either route leads to fine views of Giant, other High Peaks, and the Giants Washbowl.

Hope you have a great hike!
