Adirondack Mountain Club
May - August Outings 2011
Watch the "Sport Shorts" in the Press Republican for updates and additions.
Participants must:
- Join at least one moderate outing, before participating in a strenuous outing. Please respect the group and be fair in estimating your capabilities.
- Call the trip leader at least 24 hours in advance, unless otherwise noted.
- Sign the liability form, as required by ADK.
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear; bring adequate food and liquid.
- Minor children must be accompanied by an adult, other than the trip leader.
- Contribute to the cost of gasoline, if car pooling.
- Wear a helmet for bike events and a Personal Flotation Device for all water sports.
All outings are open to the public, unless otherwise noted. Please share the schedule with friends and invite them along when you join an outing.

Fri. May 6 Chapter meeting. Old County Courthouse.
Program 7 p.m. Marge Glowa, Adirondack Carousel Board, and woodcarver Jack Barrett will unveil his Toad carving for the carousel.
Meeting, 8 p.m. Bring items for the Algonquin Chapter Basket to raffle at the ADK Black Fly Affair on May 21.
Sat. May 7 Friends of Pt au Roche. Birding with Judy Heintz. 8 a.m. Nature Center.

Sat. May 21 Hike Rattlesnake Mt. Willsboro. Easy, fun for families.

Mon. May 30 Lost Pond lean-to clean up, and hike to Weston Peak. Moderate.

Fri. June 3 Chapter Picnic at Cumberland Bay State Park. 5 to 9 p.m. Bring a dish to share and your own cookables and beverages and a chair. Parking: $4 per car, under 62, reimbursable by Chapter with receipt. Over 62, free.
Sat. June 4 Clinton County Museum Day. Free admission to Alice Miner Museum, Kent DeLord House, CCHA, BOPA Museum, CV Transportation Museum, and the new Underground RR Museum near Ausable Chasm.
Sat. June 4 Champlain Area Trails celebration in Essex, NY, at the Stephen Kellogg farm, 4 to 6 p.m. Speaker, Bill McKibben.
Sat. June 11 Ruth’s Easy Trail Project. A perfect opportunity for newcomers to join trail work. Open to all ages and abilities. Register at www.adk.org or call 523–3441.

Sat. July 9 Climb Hopkins Mt., St. Huberts. Moderate-strenuous.

Sat. July 9 Bike. Explore Historic Cumberland Head. Stop at the historic markers, exhibit sites. Learn about the Platts, Mooers and Addoms. Less than 10 miles, slow pace, bike helmet, lunch. Leader: Nancy Olsen, 561-0189. Call by 7/7.
