It answers the question:
“What are We Looking At?”

“Thatcher’s Peak Finder for the Northern Adirondacks” identifies the great views from such popular day-hike Adirondack Mountains as Whiteface, Cascade, Ampersand, Azure and St. Regis. Small enough to fit in a day pack, each page’s
detailed line drawings are created
from original photography shot specifically for each peak, so they represent what hikers typically see without binoculars, and without distortion. Hikers of all ages love it. Over 210 peaks and landmarks
are identified from the ten summits, including 40 Adirondack High Peaks.

Trails Appeal trails

If you are like me, you arrive at a trailhead and take for granted that the trail will be cleared of large debris, relatively safe, and ready to be hiked.

I don’t give much thought to any of the work that is involved in preparing and caring for the trail laid out before me. But today I’m here to tell you about the hidden work of the Adirondack Mountain Club Trail Crews who clear the trails and make them safe for all of us so we can just get out and go for a hike.

Because the ADK Trails Program is financed primarily through New York State’s Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), fiscal uncertainties in New York could have serious implications for continuing our trail work. ADK’s lobbying efforts help ensure that EPF stewardship funds, which support both our Professional Trail Crew and Summit Steward Program, remain available.

We need your financial support to keep our crews and volunteers working for wilderness.

Through the combined efforts of ADK’s professional and volunteer trail crews, ADK completes more trail work than any non-profit organization in New York State. While this heavy workload is good fun for the trail crews, it is an invaluable public service for hikers like you and me.

How will all of these dedicated trail workers improve trails this year? In fact, they won’t be able to do an awful lot unless we, the hikers and paddlers who enjoy these trails so much, support them. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—if not ADK, then who?

With your gift, ADK will be able to rebuild and maintain over 400 miles of trails this summer and build several new trails as well.

Please join me in supporting the work of all ADK’s trail crew members by making a gift to ADK’s Trails program.

Thank you!
