Johns Brook Lodge Improvements
Over the course of two weeks the spring of 2011, the Johns Brook Lodge received another major upgrade. Under the leadership of expert craftsman Rich Preis, JBL's main bunk rooms received a major facelift. Both bunk rooms were insulated and paneled with knotty pine tongue and groove paneling. Transom windows were installed that provide much needed light without adding to the energy footprint of this backcountry facility. The upgrades transformed the bunk rooms into light and airy spaces even on a dreary, rainy day. Work weekend volunteers were astounded by the amount of light in the bunk rooms and reported that they were much cozier sleeping spaces compared to years past. This is the fourth year of a five-year plan to rejuvenate the main lodge and improve the guest experience.
