Before heading out into the High Peaks Wilderness, stop by ADK's High Peaks Information Center (HPIC). HPIC is a year-round resource for hikers, backpackers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. Get the latest weather report, check on trail conditions, or buy a map and guidebook. HPIC is a great place to pick up last minute items -- batteries for your flashlight, a first-aid kit, insect repellent, trailmix. And our friendly, knowleagable staff is always happy to advise you on the best route to your destination.

HPIC is adjacent to the Heart Lake Program Center parking lot on Adirondack Loj Road near Lake Placid, NY.

Hours of Operation

Friday and Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM; Sunday, 8 AM to 6 PM; Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
