What’s the weather like on top of the mountain? You can now get specific forecasts for a number of peaks in the Northeast, including Marcy, Whiteface, and Lyon, with the National Weather Service’s experimental Mountain Point Forecast.

Other Adirondack Forecasts
Mountain weather can change rapidly and unexpectedly. Temperatures can drop 40 degrees Fahrenheit in a few hours, and a sudden warm front can bring rain or a thunderstorm. The temperature drops 3-5 degrees F (2-3 degrees C) for every 1000 ft (305 meters) of elevation gain.
Never ascend above the treeline when there is lightning. If you are already above the treeline, descend immediately.
