Updated: January 4, 2022

As we continue to monitor the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we have adopted the following health and safety protocols to protect our guests, visitors, staff, members, and others who engage with ADK. These guidelines have been developed using federal, state, and local guidance and are updated as new data and recommendations emerge.

If you have any questions about our guidance, please contact us here.

Lodging and Camping

Due to high COVID-19 transmission levels in Essex County, we have updated our health and safety standards in order to provide a safe environment for our guests, visitors, and staff. They are as follows:

  • Guests over the age of 12 are required to show proof of vaccination upon check-in unless a valid medical exemption is provided. For reservations made after April 1, 2022, this requirement will be extended to all guests over the age of 5.
  • Masks are required indoors for all guests regardless of vaccination status.
  • Shared bunkrooms and dining arrangements will have limited capacity to encourage social distancing.
  • We ask that guests make every effort to maintain social distancing (6 feet or more) from staff and guests outside their party. We also ask guests to maintain healthy hand sanitation, including regular hand washing and use of hand sanitizer.

If a guest experiences symptoms of COVID-19 during their visit, we ask that they notify ADK staff immediately and make arrangements to leave the property. Refunds will be provided for guests who need to leave due to exhibiting signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Thank you for your support. Please call us at 518-523-3441 ext. 1 with any questions.

Education & Volunteer Programs

Below are some general criteria participants must meet to protect ADK staff, other program participants, and our greater community. In addition to meeting these criteria, all participants will be asked to submit their proof of vaccination prior to the start of the program. Listed below are the mandatory criteria for all participants for in-person ADK programs. All criteria must be met in order to participate:

  • Guests over the age of 12 are required to show proof of vaccination upon check-in unless a valid medical exemption is provided. For reservations made after April 1, 2022, this requirement will be extended to all guests over the age of 5.
  • All participants and trip leaders must bring proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of a face covering (mask) on all programs.
  • Participants must not have any of the signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection at the time of the program, or within the last 10 days prior to the program.
  • Participants must not have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days or had contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case within the last 10 days.

If a participant does not meet all of the above criteria, they MUST cancel their reservation by calling ADK’s reservation staff at 518-523-3480 ext. 1 where they will be given a full refund, or a full refund in the form of “ADK Dollars” to be used in the future.

Chapter Outings & Gatherings

All chapter outing and gathering organizers and participants over the age of 5 are required to show proof of vaccination upon arrival unless a valid medical exemption is provided. In addition to this, organizers and participants must:

  • Bring proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in the form of a face covering (mask)
  • Wear a face mask when indoors or within 6 feet of others
  • Not have any of the signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection at the time of the program, or within the last 10 days prior to the program.
  • Not have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days or had contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case within the last 10 days.

If an organizer or participant does not meet all of the above criteria, they will not be allowed to attend a chapter outing or gathering.

In addition to these measures, ADK highly discourages carpooling and large group gatherings at this time. If either of these are pursued, then they must follow all of the aforementioned guidelines and be in accordance with local health regulations.
