ADK Finalizes Purchase of Cascade Ski Center

January 21, 2022

ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) has closed on the purchase of Cascade Ski Center from the Jubin family. The Jubins will continue to run the ski center as-is until April 1, when it is officially handed off to ADK.

Looking to the future, ADK intends to continue offering cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months in keeping with Cascade’s current operations, while expanding its offerings to make the property a four-season destination. Exact details will come as ADK works toward developing a master plan for the property.

“As ADK celebrates its centennial anniversary, we are excited to expand on our legacy by increasing our visibility and education outreach through Cascade Ski Center,” said Tom Andrews, ADK President. “I can think of no better way to honor the intentions of ADK’s founders than to use this property to welcome and engage visitors on how to safely explore and protect New York’s public lands and waters.”

Constituent engagement will be important to shaping the offerings at the facility. “In the coming weeks and months, ADK will hold a number of forums to hear from various constituencies on what they would like to see at this location,” said Julia Goren, ADK Deputy Executive Director. Announcements about forum dates and times will be shared on ADK.org/news

“In addition to its superb recreational offerings, Cascade Ski Center is perfectly positioned to offer hiker information services, education programs, restrooms, and other public services in an area of great importance to the Adirondack Park,” said Michael Barrett, ADK Executive Director. “As we work through the details, we look forward to working alongside our partners and supporters to ensure that Cascade Ski Center is not only a pillar for ADK, but also the local community and visitors to the region.”
