ADK Receives Generous Acts Grant from Adirondack Foundation

April 19, 2023 — Lake Placid, NY — ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) is excited to announce that it has received funding for staff housing renovations from Adirondack Foundation’s Generous Acts Program. This support will help ADK provide additional housing to its 100 seasonal and full-time staff. In doing so, ADK will be able to welcome more young professionals into Adirondack communities who otherwise may not have been able to find housing in the area.

“The affordable housing crisis in the Adirondacks makes hiring staff challenging. To overcome this, ADK offers housing to many of its staff, which allows young professionals to gain a foothold in the region,” said Michael Barrett, ADK Executive Director. “We thank Adirondack Foundation for recognizing this critical need and supporting our efforts to provide affordable housing to our staff.”

Support for this work is from Generous Acts at Adirondack Foundation, a force for good that pools gifts from generous donors who love the Adirondack region and care about our communities. Adirondack Foundation enhances the lives of the people in the Adirondacks through philanthropy. To learn more about the Adirondack Foundation Generous Acts Fund, click here.
