Guided Trips
ADK’s guided trips will give you confidence in the backcountry. Join our guides for a trip where we will explore safe backcountry travel, Leave No Trace ethics, and more on the way to our destination.
Check out our calendar of programs below. Our programs often fill quickly.
If there is a full program you’d like to attend, please add yourself to the waitlist, as it helps us determine if/when to offer additional programs.
Please contact us for more information about our scheduled trips, as well as custom private trips, rates, and availability.
Guided Trip FAQs
What pace does the group hike at?
It depends! Each trip varies depending on the individuals that make up the group so we can never predict how long a trip will take. Our goal is to finish in the daylight, and our guides will set a “turnaround time” accordingly to keep the group on pace.
Do I need previous hiking experience?
If you are signing up for a High Peak hike, we prefer previous High Peak experience, or comparable elevation gain and mileage to the hike on other rocky trails.
Can I borrow any gear?
We have a limited supply of backpacks, tents, snowshoes, and microspikes that you can borrow for your trip. Please notify us in advance. First aid equipment, bear resistant food canisters and group cooking gear is provided.
What if the weather is bad?
Guided trips are held rain, shine, snow, or sun. On occasion, we will cancel trips for extreme weather or trail conditions our guides cannot manage. If ADK cancels a trip, you will receive a full refund.
Full refunds are given if you cancel your reservation three or more weeks in advance.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs and other pets are not allowed on ADK’s group guided hikes.
What is the minimum age for group High Peaks trips?
The minimum age for day hikes is 12 years old, and 16 years old for backpacking trips. If under 18, a parent or guardian must attend the trip as well and speak with ADK staff prior to the trip.
