The High Peaks Information Center (HPIC) is a year-round information center located at ADK’s Heart Lake Program Center next to the Van Hoevenberg Trail trailhead and parking lot. The HPIC is an excellent resource for hikers, backpackers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. Our staff can help with trip planning, gear recommendations, regional weather information, and trail conditions.

The High Peaks Information Center (HPIC) is the premier visitor information center for the Adirondack High Peaks, located at ADK’s Heart Lake Program Center beside the Van Hoevenberg Trailhead. Open year-round, the HPIC is the go-to resource for hikers, backpackers, campers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers exploring the High Peaks region.
Our knowledgeable staff provide up-to-date trail conditions, weather information, trip planning assistance, route recommendations, Leave No Trace guidance, and gear advice to help you have a safe and enjoyable adventure.
Before you hit the trail, stop in to purchase Adirondack guidebooks, trail maps, and essential backcountry supplies, including first-aid kits, insect repellent, batteries, snacks, and more. We also offer bear canister rentals, trail crampon rentals, cross-country ski rentals, snowshoe rentals, plus outdoor apparel, maps, patches, stickers, and other Adirondack souvenirs.
