ADK Receives REDC Grant
December 13, 2022 — Lake Placid, NY — ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) has been awarded a $101,925 Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) grant for planning at Cascade Welcome Center. The grant was announced by Governor Hochul last Friday as part of a $24.3 million package awarded to 56 municipalities and not-for-profit organizations.
The funding will be used for architectural, landscape, and interpretive planning to make Cascade Welcome Center more accessible and welcoming to visitors. The planning supports ADK’s larger vision of developing the Center into a fully accessible, world-class outdoor education and visitor information center. This will help visitors and residents connect with the Adirondack Park’s numerous outdoor opportunities as they travel to and from the region.
“ADK is creating an incredible resource for visitor information and community-based recreation at Cascade Welcome Center,” said Michael Barrett, ADK Executive Director. “We thank the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for their support, which ensures that we can continue the work needed to realize this vision.”
