Nine Pin Cider Renews Support for Summit Stewardship Program

January 5, 2022 — Albany, NY — For a third year, Albany-based cidery Nine Pin has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from their 26er program to the Adirondack High Peaks Summit Stewardship Program. Participants who try all 26 of Nine Pin’s unique line up of ciders in 2022 will see part of their money go towards supporting alpine stewardship in the Adirondack Park.

“We thank Nine Pin Cider for their support,” said Kayla White, ADK Stewardship Manager. “Since 1989, summit stewards have used education to help spur a remarkable turnaround in the health of the Adirondack Park’s alpine zone. Community supporters like Nine Pin Cider ensure that we can continue this work so future generations can enjoy this rare ecosystem.”

“We are proud to support the Summit Stewardship Program through Nine Pin’s 26er challenge. New York’s beloved agricultural crop, the apple, and the Adirondack Mountains are both iconic to the Empire State and their stewardship is paramount”, said Alejandro del Peral, co-founder and cidermaker at Nine Pin Cider.

The Summit Stewardship Program was founded in response to alarming declines of alpine vegetation in the Adirondack High Peaks and developed to complete three main tasks: educate the public about alpine ecosystems, maintain trails above treeline, and perform scientific research. The program is a partnership between ADK, the Adirondack Chapter of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).

To support the Summit Stewardship Program as a Nine Pin 26er, participants will need to try all 26 of Nine Pin’s challenge-specific ciders in 2022. Starting January 27, Nine Pin will release a new limited draft cider every two weeks at their tasting room in Albany over the course of the year. Those who achieve 26er status are entitled to various benefits in Nine Pin’s tasting room including perpetual happy hour pricing.
