ADK’s Heart Lake Program Center features eight miles of winter-only trails, including four kilometers of groomed trails. These backcountry-style trails offer great recreational opportunities for those looking to challenge themselves with a true wilderness skiing experience.

For the safety of others, please use snowshoes or skis when using our trails. Postholing, which occurs when people walk through snow in just their boots, creates indentations that can be dangerous to skiers.

Current Conditions

As of January 5, we have beautifully groomed trails at Heart Lake once again! Rimrock has spots of standing water and was not yet able to be groomed, but Easyside, Northwoods, Mr. Van, and the Campground Loop are all groomed.

Youth Ski Lease Program

Do you have a child that is still growing? Instead of buying them a new pair of skis each year, come and lease a pair of cross-country skis, boots, and poles for the season!

Equipment is in gently used condition, designed for classic skiing at groomed centers. Registration includes the full package of equipment for your child. Packages are available while equipment lasts.

Keep the skis all winter and bring them wherever you want to ski! Skis are available for youth age 3–17. Register early to ensure you get the sizes that you want.

Where Should I Ski To?

There are several exciting destinations beginning at Heart Lake, including Indian Falls, Indian Pass out to Rocky Falls, Whale’s Tail Ski Trail, and Marcy Dam.

Reminder: Avalanche Pass remains closed due to recent landslides.
