Adopt A Lean-to
Adopt a lean-to in the Adirondacks and give back to the lands you love.
About The Program
Every winter, interested parties can sign up to “adopt” a lean-to in the Adirondack Park and become responsible for its general maintenance. Lean-to Adopter responsibilities include removing trash and debris, keeping a lean-to register, and providing DEC Land Managers with updates on the lean-to’s condition.

Lean-to adopters must be at 18 years of age.

Available lean-tos will be posted in the Fall and up for adoption December 15–January 15

All new Lean-to Adopters are required to attend one in-person training day in the spring
Training days are: April 25, May 3, and May 9
