Zach grew up in the Adirondacks, spending his formative years in Upper Jay beginning at age 12, and continues to enjoy exploring the Adirondack Park by foot, ski, and boat with his wife Cheyenne and their dog, Ducky.
He first worked at ADK as a Naturalist Intern in 2019. Zach was inspired by working that summer interpreting the natural world for visitors and educating folks about the natural history of the Adirondacks. While attending school at St. Lawrence University, he spent his summers working for a variety of environmental nonprofits and in the outdoor recreation industry before graduating this past spring with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies.
Zach now serves as the organization’s Interpretive Manager, focusing on the visitor experience at the Heart Lake Program Center and ensuring that experience is welcoming, informative, and impactful. He also works across departments to assist efforts pertaining to visitor and staff safety, guided trips, educational programming, stewardship and volunteer efforts, and to keep a few operational gears turning.
