30-minute Sessions
These 30-minute sessions are designed for individuals who may have prior outdoor recreation knowledge, or experience within the Adirondacks or High Peaks, but would like a bit more confidence in their itineraries and routes.
During these 30-minute sessions, a member of our Interpretive Facilities Staff will work with you to review your predesigned route and itinerary, and give you any applicable feedback. Our staff will also answer any brief or last-minute questions about gear, weather, or trail conditions.
By the end of this session, you will have confidence in your own route and itinerary, and you will be provided with any useful links, notes, or resources that were discussed during the trip planning session.
60-minute Sessions
These hour-long sessions are designed for individuals who may be new to the Adirondacks or High Peaks region, or may be newer to outdoor recreation as a whole. A member of our Interpretive Facilities Staff will help you plan a safe and enjoyable experience by helping with route selection and itinerary planning.
Our staff will review and answer questions related to DEC regulations, Leave No Trace principles, weather, and trail conditions. We will also discuss the Ten Essentials and any other gear applicable to your trip.
By the end of this session, you will be provided with any useful links, notes, or resources discussed as well as an itinerary of the route(s) of the trip, including daily mileage and elevation gain as well as potential camping locations.
