The Adirondack Mountain Club owns several properties in the High Peaks Wilderness, offering recreation opportunities, trip planning advice, lodging, and more.

Heart Lake Program Center

The Heart Lake Program Center is home to the Adirondak Loj, Wilderness Campground, and High Peaks Information. Visitors enjoy a premiere wilderness experience with quick and convenient access to the most popular trailhead in New York and other wild destinations.

Adirondak Loj

The Adirondak Loj was built in 1927 and accommodates up to thirty-eight guests. Lodging options include private rooms, bunk rooms, and a co-ed, hostel-style loft.

The Loj features a cozy Great Room with seating and a stone fireplace, as well as a rustic dining room where breakfast and dinner is served family style.

Wilderness Campground

ADK’s Wilderness Campground offers a camping experience for everyone, whether you’re looking for a basic tent site, cozy cabin, or traditional Adirondack lean-to.

Camping options include 31 campsites, 16 lean-tos, six canvas cabins, one winter-only yurt, and a camp without electricity or heat.

Meals are available at the Adirondak Loj for an additional fee.

High Peaks Information Center

Conveniently located next to New York’s most popular trailhead, the High Peaks Information Center is a year-round visitor information center staffed with staff who help all types of recreators plan ahead and prepare for their trip.

The Hungry Hiker

Refuel after your Adirondack adventure at The Hungry Hiker! Our seasonal food stand offers hot and cold foods, ice cream, soft drinks, beers, and hard cider just steps from the High Peaks Information Center.

Johns Brook Lodge

Built in 1925, Johns Brook Lodge is the only backcountry lodge in the Adirondacks. The property, which also features lean-tos and cabins, is a 3.5-mile hike into the backcountry from the Garden parking lot in Keene, New York.
